Portland Opera Guild received a most generous gift of $10,000 from the late Portland Opera Guild member Alma Jenner to establish a Scholarship Fund in memory of Dorothea M. Lensch, civic leader in the highest regard and a huge influence in making Portland and its communities a ‘better’ place to live. She was a founding member of Portland Opera Association, Chamber Music Northwest, Japanese Garden, Eugene Opera, the 40-Mile Loop, the Children’s Museum, Washington Park Summer Festival as well as having created eighteen Community Centers of which many are thriving today! This extraordinary and important gift has planted the seed for the future and will be used in the spirit of Dorothea who helped many young artists to aid in their careers. Portland Opera Guild is proud to be able to establish the Dorothea M. Lensch Scholarship Fund.
One of the most critical functions for our group is to build our future and develop a strong relationship with the Portland Opera. One of the ways to help build this foundation is to work with the Portland Opera Guild Board and its Development Team to strategically enhance our work in the community through a gift.
It is particularly exciting when our members think of creative methods to invest in the arts and opera in Portland. By supporting the work of the Guild, you are endowing the future of the arts in our community.
